Captique

Captique Injectable is a relatively new FDA- approved non-animal-sourced hyaluronic acid dermal filler. It is a clear gel containing a purified form of hyaluronic acid that adds volume lost during the aging process by temporarily smoothing out facial lines and wrinkles. It is most commonly used to correct nasolabial folds (smile lines), vertical lip lines, marionette lines (lip corners) and crow’s feet.

What Is Hyaluronic Acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar. It is found in the human body in the skin, cartilage, joints and the eye. In skin tissue, hyaluronic acid fills the space between collagen and elastin fibers. The role of hyaluronic acid in the skin is to deliver nutrients, hydrate the skin by holding in water, and to act as a cushioning agent. Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of the skin, however, as we age, our skin loses hyaluronic acid, contributing to the formation of wrinkles.

Captique is injected into localized areas of the face, just below the surface of the skin temporarily adding volume, thereby filling lines, wrinkles and folds from the inside. Results are reliable, predictable and immediate lasting approximately 6 months depending on the patient’s metabolism and the specific region of the face treated. Touch-up injections two to three times per year are often recommended to maintain the correction.
